One run was the difference at West Side Park as the St. Louis Cardinals
defeated the Chicago Cubs in 12 innings 6 to 5.

Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, St. Louis
pulled the game out in the 12th inning. Zinn Beck led off and he hit a
single. After an out was recorded, Chief Wilson came to bat and drew a walk.
Dots Miller then delivered a single to load the bases. Lee Magee followed
and he laced a one-base hit scoring two baserunners. Cozy Dolan stepped into
the box and hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the inning. Despite
losing, Chicago out-hit St. Louis 15 to 12.

Bill Steele(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Steele got help from Pol Perritt who was credited with his
2nd save. Hippo Vaughn(1-2) took the loss in relief.
