George McQuillan allowed Fred Clarke to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game and third baseman Doug Baird smacked 3 triples and had 3 RBI as the
smoking-hot Pittsburgh Pirates outscored the Chicago Cubs 12 to 6.

Baird provided the offensive punch.  He tripled resulting in a run in the 1st
inning, tripled which scored a run in the 3rd inning and tripled which plated
a run in the 5th inning.  Pittsburgh finished with 16 hits in the victory.

McQuillan(1-1), allowing 6 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Hippo
Vaughn(1-1) was the loser.  He got hit hard, allowing 14 hits and 2 walks in
8 innings.  

Pittsburgh continued on their recent roll, their winning streak now reaching 7
games and counting.
