WEB GEMS- Bot 2nd: Gil McDougald robbed Willie Jones of a base hit.

Center fielder Willie Mays hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI at Forbes Field as the
Pittsburgh Pirates pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Cincinnati Reds
by the count of 8 to 7.

Pittsburgh had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning plating
3 runs using 3 hits. Al Dark started the inning off right when he hit a
single. Yogi Berra stepped up next and he drew a walk. Bobby Thomson then
slapped a one-base hit which scored a run. Bobby Brown was up next and he
doubled resulting in an exciting win for Pittsburgh and a wild post-game
celebration by the home town fans. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring
in 5 different innings was still not enough for Cincinnati to come away with
the victory.

The victory went to Chet Nichols(2-2) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
Frank Smith(0-1) suffered the loss in relief. 'That was exciting!,' Mays
said. 'I would have paid money to watch this one.'
