Left fielder Hank Sauer smacked 3 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics bested the Cincinnati Reds 10 to 3 at Shibe
Park.

It seemed that Cincinnati pitching was serving up softballs for Sauer to hit.
He ripped a one-base hit in the 1st inning, ripped a solo home run in the 3rd
inning, smashed a two-run homer in the 5th inning and cracked a solo homerun
in the 7th inning.  Philadelphia-AL kept the pressure on throughout the
contest as they scored in 6 different innings.  

Bob Lemon(3-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 2
runs. Ned Garver(1-2) was the loser.  He allowed 3 homeruns in 5 innings of
work.  

Wth the win Philadelphia-AL now has a record of 15-12.  Cincinnati has a
record of 13-10 after the loss.
