Bob Buhl reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts at Ebbets Field where the
Brooklyn Dodgers beat the Philadelphia-AL Athletics by the score of 4 to
3.
Buhl(3-2) pitched a solid game. He was reached for 4 hits and 2 walks in 7
innings reducing his ERA from 4.07 to 3.45. Philadelphia-AL had a chance to
come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Jim Konstanty gained credit for his 3rd save. Fritz Dorish(1-3) was charged
with the loss. When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Buhl
offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the
strikeout totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy this
afternoon - of course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
