Cy Young allowed 4 hits while blanking Washington as the Philadelphia-AL
Athletics defeated the Washington Senators in 10 innings 1 to 0 at Columbia
Park.

Neither pitching staff had allowed a run after the regulation nine innings.
Philadelphia-AL was victorious in the 10th inning. Cozy Dolan slapped a
single. Jimmy Collins stepped into the batter's box and he doubled giving
Philadelphia-AL the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy.
Philadelphia-AL managed only 5 hits on the afternoon.

Young(1-4) was credited with the shutout. Ned Garvin(1-2) absorbed the loss.
He pitched 9 innings and surrendered just 5 hits and 2 walks.

Bart Ewing was upset after the game. 'I don't like to complain but did you
see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling
the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule book.'
