Red Ames retired 12 batters on strikeouts as the New York Giants beat the
Boston Beaneaters by a score of 8 to 5.

Ames(3-0) had a strong outing. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 6
hits and 5 walks in 9 innings. It was roller coaster of a game as the lead
change hands 5 times.

The losing pitcher was Jake Volz(0-1). Ames, when asked about his 12
strikeout performance noted, 'The important thing is that we won, if I get 20
and we lose, what good does it do our team? But, on the other hand, since we
won it feels great!'
