The New York Giants nipped the Brooklyn Superbas 3 to 2 at Washington Park in
a hard fought contest.

New York came up with 2 runs in the 4th inning. Art Fletcher led off and he
laced a single. After an out was recorded, Fletcher took second on a stolen
base. After another out, Chief Meyers was walked intentionally. Hooks
Wiltse was up next and he doubled knocking home two runners. Brooklyn
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Wiltse(1-2) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Louis Drucke
earned his 1st save. Nap Rucker(3-2) was the loser. Brooklyn's manager was
subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind of loss takes a
while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals. We've been through
this many times - it's the nature of the game. We'll be fine - as for me -
I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
