Bill Stemmyer went the distance at Baseball Grounds where the Boston
Beaneaters beat the Philadelphia Quakers by the score of 5 to 4.

Boston scored the deciding run in the 9th inning.  After two were out Ezra
Sutton delivered a base-hit.  King Kelly stepped up next and he ripped a
one-base hit.  Kelly swiped second base.  Dan Casey then threw a high and
inside pitch that got by the catcher; it was ruled a passed ball scoring the
run.  Boston had a total of 8 hits for the game.  

The winning pitcher was Stemmyer(2-1) who allowed 4 runs for the game.
Casey(1-1) was given the loss.  He pitched 9 innings and surrendered 8 hits
and 3 walks.
