Dusty Miller had 2 base hits and Red Ehret completed the game without help
from the bullpen as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Boston Beaneaters 3 to 1
at League Park.

Cincinnati took the lead for good in the 2nd inning plating one baserunner.
Germany Smith laced a base-hit, and an error was also committed.  Charlie
Irwin next to the plate and he would ground out scoring the run.  Cincinnati
won despite being out-hit by Boston 10 hits to 7.  

The win went to Ehret(2-1) who allowed 1 run in the game. The losing pitcher
was Kid Nichols(3-2).  He pitched 8 innings and surrendered 7 hits and 3
walks.
