4,497 fans watched an exciting game at Sportsman'S Park.  The St. Louis-AL
Browns topped the Philadelphia-NL Phillies by the slimmest of margins, 4 to
3.

Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings.  St. Louis-AL ended
up winning it in the 10th inning.  Del Howard ripped a base-knock.  Howard
got a great jump and stole second easily.  After an out was recorded, Bill
Coughlin then stroked a single making St. Louis-AL the victors to the delight
of the home town faithful.  St. Louis-AL finished with 9 hits in the victory.

Red Donahue(1-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Jim Buchanan(0-1)
was charged with the loss in relief.  He was knocked around, surrendering 3
runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
