Cy Young allowed Deacon McGuire to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and Jim McHale smacked 2 triples and had 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox bested
the Philadelphia Athletics 8 to 7 at Columbia Park.

In the 7th inning Boston went on top for good scoring 3 runners on 4 hits.
The highlight belonged to McHale who silenced Columbia Park as he tripled
bringing home two baserunners.  Philadelphia had a chance in the 9th but they
came up short.  

Young(4-1) finished the game allowing 7 runs in the victory. Rube Vickers(2-3)
was hit with the loss.  He gave up 8 runs in 9 innings and saw his ERA jump
from 4.15 to 4.95.
