Johnny Mize hit a homerun and had 2 RBI and Hal Newhouser completed the game
without help from the bullpen at Griffith Stadium where the Washington
Nationals beat the New York-AL Yankees 6 to 3.

Washington took the lead off Joe Dobson in the first inning when they scored 3
runs on 3 hits.  The key at-bat was by Mize who made the crowd come alive
when he blasted a two-run home run.  Washington banged out 13 hits on the
afternoon.  

Newhouser(3-3), allowing 3 runs for the game, picked up the victory.
Dobson(0-6) took the loss.  He gave up 4 runs and 10 hits in 5 innings.
