In a two run game the Chicago-NL Cubs got by the New York-AL Yankees by the
score of 6 to 4.

New York-AL was unable to recover after Chicago-NL went ahead in the bottom of
the 4th inning as they scored 2 runs on 4 base hits. New York-AL threatened
in the 9th but Chicago-NL was able to put down the rally.

Whitey Ford(4-0) was the winner allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Leo Kiely gained
credit for his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Vern Law(0-1). He surrended
3 homeruns in his 5 innings.

Despite losing Robert Baker was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over
this one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one
of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'
