Larry Corcoran came through with a solid 9 innings and third baseman King
Kelly had 6 hits as the Chicago White Stockings outscored the Philadelphia
Quakers 12 to 3.

Corcoran(2-1) dominated Philadelphia hitters.  He was stingy on the mound,
allowing just 4 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 1.59 to
1.04.  Chicago kept the scorekeepers busy in the 5th inning when they had 4
runs on 4 hits and the 9th inning which saw them score 8 runs on 7 hits.
