Tully Sparks tossed a fine 5 hitter as the Philadelphia Phillies bested the
Brooklyn Superbas in 12 innings 4 to 3 at Baker Bowl.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. Philadelphia ended up
winning it in the 12th inning. Harry Wolverton laced a base-hit. After an
out was recorded, Roy Brashear came up and he lined a single. Brashear took
second on the throw. Klondike Douglass was a strikeout victim, unable to
help out. Rudy Hulswitt was up next and he was walked intentionally to load
the bases. Chief Zimmer came up to bat and ripped a base-knock making
Philadelphia victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd.
Philadelphia totaled 10 hits on the afternoon.
Sparks(1-1) was the winner allowing 3 runs for the game. Oscar Jones(3-1)
suffered the loss. He surrendered 10 hits and 6 walks in 11 and 2/3 innings.
