It was a wild day in Robison Field where the Cincinnati Reds defeated the St.
Louis Cardinals by the score of 14 to 11.
Cincinnati came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning plating 3
runs utilizing 3 base hits. Dick Hoblitzell led off and he banged out a
single. Mike Mitchell followed next and he drew a walk. Dick Egan then drew
a walk to load the bases. Art Phelan came up and he doubled with all three
runners coming home. Cincinnati finished with 18 hits while St. Louis ended
up with 9.
Gene Moore(1-0) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings. Gene
Dale(1-1) ended up with the loss in relief. He couldn't find the strike zone
and allowed 5 walks in 2 innings.
