Ray Keating threw a 4 hit shutout at Polo Grounds where the New York Yankees
beat the Philadelphia Athletics in 15 innings 1 to 0.
The run-column was full of goose eggs at the end of nine full innings. New
York came out on top in the 15th inning. Fritz Maisel ripped a base-knock.
Maisel took off for second and slid in with a stolen base. Roy Hartzell then
reached on an error. New York continued their aggressive style with another
stolen base. Hugh High stepped into the box and singled giving New York the
victory and sending the 3,471 home-town fans home happy. New York rapped out
7 hits for the afternoon.
Keating(1-1) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. John
Wyckoff(2-3) took the loss. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 14 innings
and not allowing an earned run.
Wth the win New York now has a record of 4-11. Not able to get much going in
recent weeks, Philadelphia is 1-9 of late and now has an overall record of
5-11.
