slimmest of margins, 7 to 6.

Cleveland erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 8th inning when
they tallied 4 runs on 4 hits. Boston threatened in the 9th but their rally
came up short.

Howie Pollet(4-2) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 1 inning. Mike
Garcia recorded the save, his 1st. Nels Potter(2-3) suffered the loss in
relief. Cleveland scored big getting 4 runs off him in 2 innings.

'We won because we did the little things right.' Jim Murphy said after the
game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get
in close games we don't make mistakes.'
