Bill Hague had 2 base hits and Jim Devlin pitched a 3 hitter as the Louisville
Grays outscored the Cincinnati Reds 3 to 1.
Cincinnati was unable to recover after Louisville went ahead in the 7th inning
scoring one runner on 3 base hits. Johnny Ryan singled. Two outs later
Devlin came to bat and slapped a single. Hague then ripped a single scoring
the run. Louisville finished with 9 hits in the victory.
Devlin(3-3), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. The loss was
charged to Cherokee Fisher(1-5). Jack Chapman was very impressed with his
pitcher, Devlin, 'He had unusually good pitch placement this afternoon. It
was almost unfair - but a beautiful game to watch from where I sat'
