George Browne had 4 hits and scored 3 times and Chief Bender had an impressive
outing as the Boston-AL Americans topped the St. Louis-AL Browns in 11
innings by a score of 4 to 2 at Sportsman'S Park.

The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Finally, Boston-AL prevailed in the 11th
inning.  Lew Ritter led off and he ripped a base-knock, and an error was also
committed.  Bender dug into the batters box next, but he struck out.  Browne
then laced a single which scored a run.  Jimmy Sheckard was up next and he
smacked a single.  Ben Koehler came up to bat and laced a base-knock scoring
the final run of the inning.  Boston-AL had 11 hits for the game and St.
Louis-AL had 4.  

Bender(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 4 innings. Tully Sparks(5-1) was
the losing pitcher.  Boston-AL now has a record of 8-13.  With the loss St.
Louis-AL now has a record of 15-8.
