Left fielder Ted Williams slammed 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Boston Red
Sox destroyed the Cleveland Indians by a score of 12 to 2 at Cleveland
Stadium.

Williams was unconscious all day.  The Cleveland fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He slapped
a base-hit in the 3rd inning, lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 6th inning
and belted a three-run homer in the 8th inning.  Boston kept the scorekeepers
busy in the 6th inning with 5 runs on 6 hits and the 8th inning when they had
4 runs on 6 hits.  Boston had 20 hits for the game and Cleveland had 5.

Rex Barney(7-2) went 6 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Barney got
relief help from Ed Klieman who gained credit for his 2nd save.  The losing
pitcher was Dave Koslo(2-2).  He was touched for 8 hits and 2 walks in 5
innings.  

Wth the win Boston now has a record of a league leading 30-13. With the loss
Cleveland now has a record of 16-11.
