The Washington Nationals pitching staff was overwhelmed by the New York-AL
Yankees lineup who plated 15 runs while Johnny Schmitz(5-3), with relief help
from Don Liddle, allowed Washington 5 runs.

The game started off with New York-AL taking the lead in the first plating an
isolated run on 2 hits. Sid Gordon doubled. Two outs later Bob Rush came to
bat and uncorked a wild one that found its way to the backstop scoring the
run. New York-AL bats were hot in the 2nd inning which saw them plate 6 runs
on 4 hits and the 5th inning tallying 4 runs. New York-AL dominated
offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.

The loss was charged to Rush(2-4). He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 5
walks in 4 innings. With this win, New York-AL has a 20-19 record. They
have been 5-5 lately. Not able to get much going in recent weeks, Washington
is 2-8 of late and now has an overall record of 11-20.
