Jim Whitney had a complete game as the Boston Beaneaters topped the ice-cold
Philadelphia Quakers by a score of 10 to 6 at Recreation Park.

Boston scored 6 runs in the decisive top of the 2nd inning when they had 5
base hits.  The key at-bat was by Mike Hines who quieted the crowd when he
doubled plating all three baserunners.  Although they lost, Philadelphia did
out-hit Boston 14 to 8.  

Whitney(3-1) finished the game allowing 6 runs in the victory. John
Coleman(0-4) was charged with the loss.  Boston scored big getting 10 runs
off him in 9 innings.
