First baseman Candy Lachance smacked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Harley Payne
allowed Billy Barnie to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game at Eastern
Park where the Brooklyn Bridegrooms beat the New York Giants by the score of
7 to 1.
It seemed that New York pitching was serving up softballs for Lachance to hit.
He lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 4th inning,
belted a three-run homer in the 6th inning and laced a base-knock knocking in
a run in the 7th inning. Brooklyn banged out 10 hits on the afternoon.
Payne(2-2) was the winner allowing 1 run for the game. The losing pitcher was
Jouett Meekin(0-2). He surrendered 10 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.
'I was really seeing the ball today,' Lachance said 'I wish it was always this
easy.'
