WEB GEMS- Top 5th: Jimmy Sebring robbed John Titus of an extra base hit.

Nap Rucker shut down the Philadelphia batters on just 3 hits at Washington
Park where the Brooklyn Superbas beat the slumping Philadelphia Phillies in
11 innings by the score of 1 to 0.

Neither pitching staff had allowed a run after the regulation nine innings.
Brooklyn came out on top in the 11th inning. Whitey Alpermann tripled. John
Hummel came next and he was walked intentionally. After an out was recorded,
Jul Kustus then laced a one-base hit giving Brooklyn the win as 3,095 happy
fans joyfully celebrated. Brooklyn had just 5 hits for the afternoon.

Rucker(2-1) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Bill
Foxen(3-1) was charged with the loss. He gave up only 5 hits and 3 walks in
10 and 1/3 innings.

'Our guys just weren't seeing the ball today.' Billy Murray said. 'Rucker
simply dominated us.'
