George Suggs allowed Clark Griffith to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game and Bob Bescher had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds
defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5 to 4 at Palace of the Fans.

Cincinnati brought 3 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 6th inning
with the help of 3 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Suggs who
brought a roar from the partisan Palace of the Fans fans when he laced a
base-knock scoring two baserunners. The Pittsburgh batters didn't put up a
fight in the 9th.

The winning pitcher was Suggs(1-1) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Lefty
Leifield(4-2) took the loss. He allowed 5 runs and 7 hits in 8 innings.
