Al Zarilla had 4 hits at Fenway Park where the Boston-AL Red Sox beat the
ice-cold New York-AL Yankees 7 to 4.

Boston-AL had 5 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 5th inning with the
help of 5 hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Ted Williams who made
the crowd come alive when he smashed a two-run homer.  New York-AL threatened
in the 9th but Boston-AL was able to put down the rally.  

Erv Palica(2-6) went 6 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Palica got
help from Mickey Harris who earned his 1st save.  Ray Scarborough(0-1) was
the losing pitcher.  He was hit hard and gave up 12 hits and 2 walks in 8
innings.
