Philadelphia-AL scored the winning runs in the top of the 9th inning scoring 3
runs using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Sammy White opened up the
rally as he drew a walk. Bobby Avila followed next and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt. Gil Hodges then was walked intentionally. Johnny Logan came
up and he rifled a three-run blast. The Chicago-NL offense proved no trouble
in the bottom of the 9th.
Lew Burdette(1-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Johnny
Antonelli was credited with his 1st save. Johnny Sain(0-2) suffered the loss
in relief. He allowed 3 runs and 2 hits in 1 inning.
