Chicago came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning scoring 4 runners on 4 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Bill Dahlen who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he tripled plating two runs. Washington threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Stratton(1-1) lasted until the end allowing 4 runs for the win. Otis Stocksdale(1-3) was tagged with the loss. He was knocked around by Chicago, allowing 12 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.
