Waddell(3-0) escaped virtually unscathed against the Washington hitters. He gave up just 2 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. Waddell chalked up 13 strikeouts. The left-handed Waddell lost his chance for a no-hitter when Joe Cassidy singled with two outs in the 7th inning. Washington threatened in the 9th but Philadelphia was able to put down the rally. The loss was charged to Casey Patten(1-5). He was the victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game. Waddell was humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well, I felt pretty confident in my pitches this afternoon. But, I had great support behind me and I just threw what was called. That was an extremely well called game!'
