WEB GEMS- Top 9th: Sailor Stroud robbed Art Devlin of a base hit.

Fred Snodgrass had 3 base hits as the Philadelphia-NL Phillies topped the St.
Louis-AL Browns by a score of 6 to 5 at Sportsman'S Park.

Philadelphia-NL scored the winning runs in the top of the 8th inning plating 2
runs using 2 hits. Snodgrass started the inning off right when he banged out
a single. After an out was recorded, Davy Jones stepped in and he smacked a
single. Nap Lajoie then drew a walk to load the bases. Harry Hooper was up
next and he reached on an error knocking in a run. Hal Chase came up to bat
and hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. St. Louis-AL
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Ray Fisher(1-1) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Fisher was helped
out by Alex Malloy who recorded his 2nd save. The loss was charged to Addie
Joss(1-5) in relief.

'You have to give St. Louis-AL credit, they fought us tough to the end' Mark
McGonigle said. 'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we pulled out
the victory.'
