In a dramatic ending the smoking-hot New York Giants staged a comeback and
held on to win over the Boston Rustlers by the count of 12 to 11.
Red Murray was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he
provided much of the offense for the visitors. He delivered a base-hit
plating a run in the 1st inning, doubled with all three runners coming home
in the 2nd inning and ripped a single scoring a run in the 9th inning. New
York had 14 hits overall, while Boston had 11.
Bugs Raymond(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing 5 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Big Jeff Pfeffer(1-2) ended up with the loss. He got hit pretty hard,
allowing 14 hits and 9 walks in 9 innings.
New York continued on their recent roll, their winning streak now reaching 9
games and counting. 'It seems we can't lose these days', John McGraw
volunteered after the game. Then after a moment to reflect he lamented, 'Oh
great! Now I've gone and jinxed us!'
