TEAM RISP- Phillies: 4 for 10 Pirates: 1 for 9

Right fielder Hank Bauer connected with a 'big fly' and had 4 RBI at Forbes
Field where the Philadelphia-NL Phillies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the
score of 7 to 6.

Bauer was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He clubbed a solo home run in the 1st
inning and tripled with all three runners coming home in the 6th inning.
Pittsburgh threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Jocko Thompson(1-2) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 5 innings.
Thompson got relief help from Bud Podbielan who gained credit for his 3rd
save. Billy Pierce(2-5) took the loss. He allowed Philadelphia-NL 7 runs in
6 innings of work.

Mark McGonigle was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only
we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not
going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
