Jumbo McGinnis allowed Gus Schmelz to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game and Bid McPhee had 4 hits and 4 RBI at League Park as the Cincinnati Red
Stockings belted the Cleveland Blues by the count of 17 to 7.

McPhee enjoyed a big day at the plate. He lined a single in the 1st inning,
doubled bringing in a run in the 5th inning, doubled which was good for two
runs in the 6th inning and doubled resulting in a run in the 8th inning.
Cincinnati kept the scorekeepers busy in the 2nd inning plating 4 runs and
the 5th inning with 4 runs on 4 hits. The Cincinnati offense was as
consistent as it was powerful. They scored in every inning, making a joke of
the Cleveland pitching.

The win went to McGinnis(2-2) who allowed 7 runs in the game. Frank
Scheibeck(0-1) was hit with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 17 hits and
5 walks in 8 innings.
