Deacon Phillippe tossed a complete game at Exposition Park as the Pittsburgh
Pirates won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Philadelphia Phillies
by the count of 6 to 5.

Pittsburgh had the game winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Fred Clarke led off and keyed the rally when he
reached on an error. Ginger Beaumont was next to the plate, but was promptly
struck out. Jimmy Sebring then slapped a one-base hit, and an error was also
committed. Honus Wagner came up and he doubled driving home two runs.
Wagner stole third and scored when the ball ended up in the outfield making
Pittsburgh the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. It was
roller coaster of a game as the lead change hands 5 times.

Phillippe(3-2) lasted until the end allowing 5 runs for the win. Johnny
Lush(1-2) was the loser. 'What a game!,' Phillippe said afterward. 'When we
won it I almost couldn't believe it!'
