Ed Abbaticchio had 4 hits and 4 RBI and Long Tom Hughes was able to finish
what he started and was credited with a complete game at American League Park
as the Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia-AL Athletics by the count
of 9 to 3.

The Washington fans enjoyed the offense provided by Abbaticchio. He tripled in
the 1st inning, stroked a one-base hit in the 3rd inning, hit a single
bringing in two baserunners in the 6th inning and tripled scoring two
baserunners in the 8th inning.  Washington banged out 15 hits on the
afternoon.  

The victory went to Hughes(2-3) who went the distance allowing 3 runs. Doc
White(4-5) took the loss.  He pitched 6 innings and surrendered 10 hits and 1
walk.
