Pete Alexander came through with a solid 9 innings as the Philadelphia
Phillies won a dandy at Baker Bowl over the St. Louis Cardinals, 4 to 3.

The game was won by Philadelphia when they scored a run in the 9th inning.
Mickey Doolin stroked a base-hit.  Red Dooin stepped into the batter's box
and he stroked a single.  Jimmy Walsh struck out, unable to help the rally.
Dode Paskert was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out.  Otto Knabe
came to the plate and lined a one-base hit making Philadelphia the victor and
beginning a joyous home town celebration.  Philadelphia had 9 hits for the
afternoon.  

Alexander(1-2) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. The
losing pitcher was Rube Geyer(2-2) in relief.  By surrending 2 runs in 3
innings his ERA jumped from 1.29 to 2.12.
