First baseman John Morrill had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and John Clarkson had a
strong outing at Recreation Park as the Boston Beaneaters, running on all
cylinders, ripped the Pittsburgh Alleghenys by a large 12 to 0
margin.

Boston set the tone of the game in the first inning scoring 3 runs using 3
hits. King Kelly started the inning off right when he lashed a single.
Kelly was safe on a stolen base. Two outs later Billy Nash came to the plate
and lined a single. Boston continued their aggressive style with another
stolen base. Morrill stepped into the box and reached on an error which was
good for two runs. Ed Morris then threw a pitch that got away from the
catcher. Dick Johnston followed and he lined a one-base hit scoring the
final run of the inning. The early run support proved sufficient for
Clarkson(4-5) and Boston. That was all the run support Clarkson required.
Boston had a total of 15 hits for the game.

Morris(4-3) was the loser. He allowed 15 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.
