George Baumgardner allowed Gordon Renaud to rest his bullpen, tossing a
complete game at West Side Park where the Washington Nationals beat the
Chicago-NL Cubs by the score of 3 to 2.

Washington won the game with a run in the 9th inning. Rebel Oakes doubled.
Willie Mitchell then uncorked a wild one that found its way to the backstop.
Herbie Moran then singled scoring the run. Washington rapped out 7 hits for
the afternoon.

The victory was credited to Baumgardner(1-2) who went the distance, allowing 2
runs. Mitchell(1-1) was given the loss in relief.

'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Baumgardner said. 'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't
put the ball where I wanted it.'
