Jim Whitney allowed just 6 hits at Riverside Park where the Boston Red
Stockings beat the Buffalo Bisons in 12 innings 2 to 1.
Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Boston
pulled the game out in the 12th inning. Ezra Sutton reached on an error.
Whitney stepped into the batter's box and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Pop
Snyder then reached on an error scoring the run. Boston had a total of 7
hits for the game.
The win went to Whitney(3-2) who allowed 1 run in the game. The loss was
charged to Pud Galvin(2-2). He was stingy with the baserunners, allowing
just 7 hits and no walks in 12 innings.
