Columbus came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 8th inning with 2 runs on 2 hits. Tom Brown kicked off the action when he reached on an error. Brown was safe at second on a stolen base. After an out was recorded, Jim Field then laced a base-hit bringing in a run. Columbus continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. John Richmond came up to bat and tripled scoring the final run of the inning. St. Louis had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. The winning pitcher was Morris(4-1) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Jumbo McGinnis(3-2) was the losing pitcher. St. Louis' manager was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind of loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals. We've been through this many times - it's the nature of the game. We'll be fine - as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
