Hank O'Day went the distance as the Washington Nationals topped the
Philadelphia Quakers by a score of 5 to 4 at Baseball Grounds.

Washington erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs
on 4 hits.  Pete Sweeney got things going when he singled, and an error was
also committed.  Connie Mack came next and he doubled scoring a single run.
O'Day then hit a single.  Dummy Hoy was up next and he doubled bringing in
another run.  George Shoch stepped into the box and drew a walk to load the
bases.  Two outs later Charlie Buffinton came up and he bounced one in the
dirt for a wild pitch scoring the final run of the inning.  Philadelphia
threatened in the 9th but Washington was able to put down the rally.

O'Day(2-1) allowed 4 runs on the game. Buffinton(3-3) ended up with the loss.
He allowed 13 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings.  Washington now has a record of
5-7.  With the loss Philadelphia now has a record of 6-7.
