At South Side Park, the Chicago faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel. Frank Smith(3-2) finally bested his Philadelphia
counterpart, Rube Vickers(2-1), by the score of 2 to 0.

Chicago brought 2 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 3rd inning when
they had 3 base hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. Neither
team managed to score after the 3rd inning.

Nick Altrock gained credit for his 1st save. The loss was charged to Vickers.
He pitched 8 innings giving up 7 hits and no walks.
