13,924 fans were treated to a fine game at Crosley Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Cincinnati Reds won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.

Cincinnati promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they came up
with 2 runs on 2 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Ted Kluszewski
who made the Cincinnati fans a happy lot when he doubled plating two runs.
Boston-AL tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Ken Raffensberger(5-3) allowed 2 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory.
Raffensberger was helped out by Stu Miller who recorded his 12th save. Jim
Wilson(2-3) absorbed the loss.

'Some losses are harder to take than others' Mel Gross lamented after the
game. 'This was one of them.'
