The Washington Nationals nipped the Chicago-NL Cubs 5 to 4 at Wrigley Field in
a hard fought contest.

In the 7th inning Washington scored 2 runs. The key offensive moment was
provided by Andy Pafko who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he
cleared the fences for a two-run home run. Chicago-NL threatened in the 9th
but their rally came up short.

Murry Dickson(5-3) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 8 and 2/3
innings. Harry Byrd got the save, his 5th. Sid Hudson(3-3) took the loss.
He gave up 9 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings.

'It was a tough one to lose' said Ron Mead 'We'll get them next time out.'
