Washington Nationals beat the Boston ballclub in 10 innings 27 to 26.
The score was knotted at 22 after nine innings. Washington was victorious in
the 10th inning. The critical plate appearance was by Holly Hollingshead who
deflated the crowd as he slapped a single bringing in two baserunners.
Washington bats were very productive in the 5th inning when they had 5 runs
on 4 hits, the 9th inning with 5 runs on 3 hits and the 10th inning which saw
them score 5 runs on 4 hits. The Washington offense man-handled the Boston
pitching staff as they scored in 8 of the 10 innings.
