Sherry Magee had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the St. Louis-AL Browns outscored
the Washington Nationals 3 to 2.

Washington was unable to claim the lead after St. Louis-AL went ahead in the
bottom of the 3rd inning plating one baserunner utilizing 2 base hits.
Washington made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.  

Ed Killian(7-4) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Lew
Richie preserved the game for Killian, recording his his 12th save.  Bob
Ewing(6-5) was charged with the loss.  

Gordon Renaud was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind of
loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals.  We've
been through this many times - it's the nature of the game.  We'll be fine -
as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
