Chief Bender had a strong outing as the Philadelphia Athletics defeated the
Cleveland Naps by a score of 3 to 0 at Shibe Park.

Bender(4-1) simply dominated Cleveland.  He surrendered only 4 hits and no
walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 2.52 to 2.01.  Philadelphia had only
6 hits for the game.  

Fred Link(0-4) absorbed the loss.  'Bender was the man today,' Philadelphia's
manager said.  'He had just about every pitch working.'
