Fritz Dorish slammed the door on Brooklyn at Connie Mack Stadium as the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics beat the Brooklyn Dodgers 10 to 9.

Hank Sauer had a big day at the plate. He stroked a one-base hit in the 1st
inning and brought the hometown folks to their feet with a Grand Slammer in
the 5th inning. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead
changed hands 7 times.

The winning pitcher was Tom Poholsky(5-2) who allowed 4 runs in 2 innings.
Dorish earned his 2nd save. Jim Hughes(1-2) was the losing pitcher in
relief. He surrendered 1 hit and 2 walks in 2/3 of an inning.
